It’s a top priority to keep dogs safe at our house. We have our rules and routines which will hopefully keep us from ever going missing. There are well trained dogs who walk without leashes, but we do recommend walking dogs on a leash for a lot of reasons. Even the best of dogs can be startled by something and take off. Many cities do have leash laws. Your dog should be used to walking on a leash. If you travel, it is very important to keep your dog leashed up. You don’t know the area, and neither does your dog. If they get scared and take off, it is really hard to even imagine where they might go.
Animals love the outdoors but it is our responsibility to protect them. Always leash your animals when outside. Keep them close to home and away from traffic, unfamiliar animals and those who may not concern themselves with your pet’s best interests. Never leave your dog leashed outside a store or unattended in the car, even if it’s locked or the windows are rolled down.
